Six times a year, the Troop 83 scouts plant large U.S. flags in the yards of program subscribers all throughout Rockwall. For a $40 annual subscription, folks can purchase a flag measuring three feet by five feet on a 10-foot pole to be placed in their yard during the following holidays:

• President’s Day

• Memorial Day

• Flag Day

• Independence Day

• Labor Day

• Veterans’ Day

As Troop 83’s primary fundraiser, the Flags Over Rockwall program has garnered a ton of support from the community. The troop currently places 500 flags in neighborhoods around the county, including The Shores, Buffalo Creek and Woodcreek. The funds raised from the flag program serve the troop by helping to pay for transportation costs to campouts and other outdoor activities, as well as supplies such as rank badges for the scouts.
